Tourism Officers participate in Tourism Statistics Training
The Provincial Tourism Office of Camarines Sur, together with the Department of Tourism Region V, spearheaded the “Basic Tourism Statistics Training for CamSur,” a 3-day training for tourism officers of various local government units (LGUs) in the province to learn and understand deeper their duties and responsibilities.

Twenty-two representatives from various LGUs of Camarines Sur participated in the said training at the Capitol Complex, Cadlan, Pili on July 24-26, 2018.

“We keep doing the same training to prepare them for their tasks. To submit what NEDA, PSA, DOT and other government agencies require the tourism office is one of their duties. Through this training, they’ll be responsible in doing the tourism statistics and data that will help the province become a part of the Philippine Top Destinations,” explained Ramil Basuel, Department of Tourism Officer.

This 3-day training aims to provide information tackling on the tourism statistics fundamentals and train all municipal tourism officers to properly gather, compile and report basic tourism data. Through this, more tourism establishments will gain accreditation form DOT.

Don Aguilar, one of the trainees of the recently concluded Basic Tourism Statistics Training of Camarines Sur, said, “I actively participated in the Tourism Statistics Training, first and foremost to be capacitated on how to data gather which is important in tourism promotion, marketing and basically data gathering in our municipality. We will be able to improve the tourism information and promotion, not just in Bula, but the entire province of CamSur.” Aguilar is the designated tourism officer-in-charge of the Local Government Unit of Bula. He’s been actively participating in trainings and workshops like these to enhance his skill and develop his way of handling tourism activities, cultural gathering and other tasks of a tourism officer-in-charge.
