Children in Camaligan, CamSur, benefit from free fluoride application and dental filling
“My grandson, Kian, started teething when he was only 9 months old. I want to ensure that he can have strong teeth so that he can eat nutritious fruits and vegetables; I want him to be healthy,” shared Marilyn Dela Rosa, from Barangay Sto. Domingo, Camaligan. “That is why when our barangay officials announced that there will be a mass fluoride application today, I immediately brought him here to avail of the free service,” she added.

Marilyn’s grandson is just one of the hundreds of children who benefitted from the free dental services of the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, in partnership with the Municipal Government of Camaligan. The services were catered at the Camaligan River Park last November 22, 2019.

The services include mass fluoride application and dental filling. Moreover, children from 6 months old to 4 years old benefitted from the dental services.

“Fluoride application keeps the teeth hard and strong. The mineral cannot be found in fruits and vegetables, so it is necessary to apply it in our teeth. The mineral also prevents cavities and creates a stronger surface on our teeth,” shared Dr. Baby Fajardo from the Provincial Health Office.

The provincial government plans to cater more dental services in far-flung areas in the province. Furthermore, the free fluoride application and dental filling is part of the provincial government’s goal to provide accessible oral health services to people in different parts of the Camarines Sur.
