MELLPI Pro now being used in Camarines Sur
MELLPI Pro now replaces the traditional Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI). As a new protocol of the National Nutrition Council (NNC), MELLPI Pro has the updated monitoring and evaluation framework designed to measure the nutrition workers’ performances, system for assessment of initiatives along with the observance to existing laws, scoring based on the LGU’s desired improvement on their nutrition programs, and measurement through the review of existing evidences of the inclusive nutrition activities and programs of the LGUs.

With this, representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturists (OPAG) Nutrition Division conducted the MELLPI Pro in the municipality of Canaman on October 18, 2019.

According to Maria Elizabeth Salvino, Nutritionist-Dietitian of OPAG, “We are evaluating Canaman because under the new protocol from NNC, barangays will be evaluated by the Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, then, the Municipal Nutrition Office will be evaluated by us from OPAG-Nutrition. Lastly, we, in the province will be evaluated by the NNC.”

Upon the evaluation, Canaman coped easily with the new upgraded scheme that is also already being used by local nutrition workers. On the feedback portion of the evaluators, they scored 84 out of 100. This is considered a very competitive start for a much better nutrition situation of Canaman. In the following days, the remaining municipalities of Camarines Sur will also be evaluated.

On October 22, 2019, the National Nutrition Council Region V scheduled the 2019 MELLPI Pro in Camarines Sur held at the Function Room of the Capitol Convention Center. The province looks forward to continuously follow the new protocol to achieve the progress in nutrition that Camarines Sur aims for.

Since ‘80s, the local nutrition evaluation teams of Camarines Sur have been using the MELLPI as guideline on assessing the local nutrition programs through the efficiency and effectiveness criteria.
