Starkey Aftercare Services helps Camarinenses with hearing impairment
The Starkey Hearing Foundation, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Camarines Sur, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), brought the Starkey Aftercare Services in Capitol Convention Center in Pili, Joseph Gualandi School for Hearing Impaired Inc. in Naga City, and Sipocot District Hospital on 12-14 September 2019.

Residents in Camarines Sur benefitted from the aftercare services, which includes ear wax removal, ear mold adjustment, hearing aid battery change, and counselling on the proper care of hearing aid.

“Dakulaon po ining tabang samo na may aking may kadinan sa pagdangog. Kan dati ming pagpa-checkup, an sabi kan doctor, kaipuhan daa nin hearing aid. Alagad mayo man kaming kwarta, dae kami nakapa-gibo. Kaya kan naaraman mi an tungkol digdi sa Starkey Foundation, nag-igot kaming makakuang tabang,” shared Marilou Belen, mother of the 23-year-old Bernadeth Belen who has a hearing impairment.

According to Belen, her daughter now attends school, since she can already hear because of the hearing aid. “Salamat po sa Starkey Hearing Foundation asin kay Governor Migz Villafuerte ta natawanan nin pagkakataon an aki ko na makadangog,” she said gratefully.

Beneficiaries of the program who needs aftercare may also directly proceed at the Provincial Health Office to avail the service. They can also contact the Starkey CamSur Hotline at (+63) 917-166-3456 and (+63) 939-902-3046 for any inquiries.

It can be recalled that last year, 18 November 2018, the Starkey Hearing Foundation also conducted a hearing medical mission for over 600 persons with hearing impairment. After the medical mission, an aftercare program was conducted in different parts of the province to provide an ear check-up for the beneficiaries of the program.

The provincial government and the Starkey Hearing Foundation will conduct another hearing medical mission on 17-18 November 2019 at the Capitol Convention Center, Cadlan, Pili, where they will be aiming to help over a thousand beneficiaries.
